based on shropshire/powys border which developed out of a personal life long passion to breed high quality competition horses, this passion being recognised in him becoming an approved bef young horse evaluator. due to the success of the stud and its development in to a reputable ai centre we moved in 2009 to larger facilities at a more accessible location on the shropshire /powys border, approximately 10 miles from shrewsbury. our new location provided us with increased acreage to become virtually self-sufficient in supplying visiting stock with plentiful, quality feedstuffs and bedding. the larger facilities also gave us the opportunity to expand our range of services to include embryo transfer and further develop our own breeding programme. we are now an established family run sport horse stud and ai/et centre, concentrating on providing quality breeding services at affordable prices. services are offered in conjunction with our highly respected local veterinary practice fyrnnwy equine clinics. fixed vet packages help keep costs down and allows you to budget costs accurately. as well as taking in mares to our resident/walk-in stallions, a considerable proportion of our business is taking mares for ai to non resident stallions via chilled or frozen semen. we provide access to chilled /frozen semen from a whole range of top class performance stallions across europe and the uk through close reliable contacts we have established over the years. attention to detail is vital and all services are personally ‘hands-on’ managed by edward, with the support of his wife caroline and a small team of dedicated staff. the family lives on site offering reassurance to owners. the stud appreciates how precious mares/foals are to their owners and to this end all facilities are managed to ensure a comfortable and safe stay for visiting mares and foals. westpoint has continually enjoyed success in breeding quality sport horses. our breeding programme specialise in breeding high quality warmblood horses/ponies for ambitious amateurs and professional riders to compete with success at any level in dressage, showjumping or eventing. edward involves himself in the breaking of our homebred youngsters and is confident of their rideability /trainability before offering them for sale. we do little advertising as buyers seek us out through word of mouth and seeing homebred progeny compete. we offer: for your mare artificial insemination embryo transfer semen sourcing – ordering & delivery from within europe and the uk advice on stallion selection along continental guidelines in terms of conformation, temperament and performance ability. for your stallion standing your stallion at stud walk-in stallion collections semen collection training – stallions can be trained to collect using a dummy mare arrangement of chilled /frozen semen delivery throughout the uk facilities include a.i / et laboratory, a designated stallion barn and collection area, secure examination stocks, cctv, mare barns housing spacious individual stable units and electric fenced paddocks. supporter of british breeding edward strives to support a desire amongst uk breeders to move british breeding forward -
